미국은 지난 24시간 동안 대한민국에서 일어난 사건들을 주의 깊게 지켜보았습니다. 미국은 대한민국 국회가 만장일치로 ‘비상계엄 해제 요구안’을 가결한 후, 대한민국 헌법(the ROK Constitution)에 따라 윤 대통령이 비상계엄을 해제한 것을 환영합니다. 미국은 정치적 갈등이 평화롭게(peacefully), 그리고 법치(rule of law)에 따라 해결되기를 기대합니다. 미국은 민주주의(democracy)와 법치(rule of law) 원칙에 기반한, 한국 국민(people of Korea)과 한미동맹(U.S.-ROK alliance)을 지지합니다.

Statement on Developments in the Republic of Korea

The United States has watched closely developments over the last 24 hours in the Republic of Korea. We welcome President Yoon’s statement that he would rescind the order declaring emergency martial law in accordance with the ROK Constitution, after the National Assembly’s unanimous vote to reject the declaration. We continue to expect political disagreements to be resolved peacefully and in accordance with the rule of law. We reaffirm our support for the people of Korea and the U.S.-ROK alliance based on shared principles of democracy and the rule of law.
